Ever since school started back in September, my desk has become a jumble of papers, pencils and random stuff. I think its finally time to tidy up. Here is how I turned my messy desk in to a enjoyable workplace.
| My desk before it went through its transformation... |
First I put all things I don't usually use in drawer that was part of my desk. I have easy access to everything (nothing is free floating). All items are in small pouches. To do this, you can use anything, like makeup pouches or even zip lock bags--anything to keep things from being lost at the bottom of the drawer. If you don't have a drawer use plastic tubs and just slide and stack them under your desk on either side of where your legs go.
I have a lot of wires around my room for charging various electronic items. What I did to keep them out of the way was to put them all in a little pouch. Also, to keep them from knotting up with one another, I wrapped them with silly bands (I KNEW there'd be a use for those!).
If you saw in the first photo I had pencils, pens, sharpies--all sorts of writing mediums scattered around my desk. This problem was easily solved. All I did was take one of those utensil holders and put my pencils and stuff in it. I got mine at Target, but there are other cheap ones at Marshalls or Walmart.
Now the only things I keep on the surface of my desk are the things I use often. I also keep a plant (bamboo) on there for good feng shui.
| The final product! |
*Just a note. To keep your desk from being cluttered, decide if you really need what is there. If you look on my desk, I use my iHome everyday along with my computer. Pencils are a necessity for homework along with my three hole punch and stapler. The pile a papers next to my keyboard is homework. Everything on the desk is something that is being used.*
